Find out in 3 minutes
It can be hard to figure out if a clinic is right for you when you’re looking around a website.
For that reason, we’ve created this page, with 3 quick questions, to help you work out if what we offer is a match for what you’re looking for.
Do you either a) have an ache or pain you think may be muscle related or b) want to check to see if you’re carrying any tension / imbalances in your muscles for life or training purposes?
If yes, that’s one point yes.
At LSM we’re all about helping people feel better faster, whether that’s addressing a specific ache or pain that’s bothering them, or using sport & remedial massage to support day to day life stress or training.
If you don’t have an ache or pain, and/or you don’t want to check if you’re carrying imbalances and see if you could feel lighter/freer with looser muscles, we’re probably not right for you.
Would you like to have a better understanding of how your body relates to itself and/or how to take care of yourself/your muscles?
If the answer is yes, that’s another point.
We can’t be with you 24/7 and once you’re in better shape (if we’re dealing with a specific problem) we want you to be able to manage on your own – if you want to. (You’re of course welcome to use massage as part of your self-care plan, to keep an eye on your muscles, but it should be a choice, not a necessity.)
For that reason, we’ll always explain what we’re doing, what we find and work with you to figure how you can either: a) adjust your environment/ movement to prevent your issue from recurring, or b) give you stretches/exercises to help you take care of yourself.
If, on the other hand, you just want to passively get ‘fixed’ without at least being partly involved in your own self-management – then we’re probably not right for you.
Are you looking for somewhere you can just lay down for an hour and completely zone out?
If the answer is no, that’s another point.
This is not a spa massage.
Most of our clients DO feel relaxed when we finish – that’s because we’ve targeted specific muscles that are irritating your body and creating discomfort elsewhere. Releasing these muscles usually leaves you feeling relaxed. And we can definitely include and/or finish with a few minutes of ‘nice’ massage like head/neck/shoulders or back.
But if you’re looking for a “lie down and totally switch off” type of massage this isn’t it – we work with our clients to get & keep them feeling better which means you can’t switch off – at least not in the first session.
If you’d like to learn more about what we do in your first session, click here.
Don’t get me wrong – I love a good general, whole body relaxing massage. It’s just not what we offer.
Side note: if you end up having a regular maintenance massage (say, once a month) it will end up being a bit more like that general chill out for an hour massage. But even then, we’ll still tell you what we find, and spend more tim on the muscles that need it to re-balance you.
There you have it – 3 minutes and a snapshot of what we do and how it may or may not fit with what you’re looking for.
If you’re still not sure, or have any follow-up questions, you can contact us via our contact page or call our 0208 number and we’ll arrange for someone to get back to you.
If you’ve decided we’re not right for you, best of luck in finding the right person for what you’re looking for. We recommend you try CNHC-registered practitioners for massage, and you can search their register for massage therapists by clicking here.
In the meantime, feel free to sign up to our newsletter (link at the top of the page) – we send out fortnightly to monthly emails with self-care tips for deskworkers, runners/cyclists/triathlete, and just general body care stuff. And, if you’re a deskworker or a runner/cyclist triathlete, we have free facebook groups for both those things!
